Southern Fried Eggs

Requirements

  • One Pound Bacon
  • Half Dozen Brown Eggs
  • Large Skillet
  • Food Flipper

Disclaimer: This recipe makes enough food for four people. Eat at your own risk. Always follow appropriate safety precautions.

Turn on stovetop to High. Place 1/2 pound of bacon in skillet. Pay careful attention not to burn the bacon. When bacon is cooked, place on paper towels if desired. Next cook the other 1/2 pound of bacon. Do not drain skillet. Crack eggs into skillet and reduce heat to medium. When the yolks begin to solidify, use the Food Flipper to scrape them off the skillet and roll them over. Serve hot with your favorite beverage.

FERN CLENDENIN GOBBLE

PEYTONA WEST VIRGINIA 25154 – Fern C. Gobble, 87, of Peytona died Oct. 30, 2003, in Montgomery General Elderly Care after an extended illness.

She was a member of Peytona Church of Christ, a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, a homemaker and a retired associate postmaster.

She is survived by her husband, three sons, one daughter, six grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. love to pleasant fern

WILLIAM HOWARD GOBBLE

William Howard Gobble, 96, died peacefully at home in Peytona, W.Va., Jan. 9 following a long illness.

Gobble was born Aug. 13, 1908, in Washington County, Va., the son of the late Whitney Henderson Gobble and Matilda Frances Kestner Gobble.

He was predeceased by Fern Clendenin Gobble, his beloved wife of 71 years, five brothers - Arthur, Calvin, Clarence, Jim and Charlie (who died in childhood), and five sisters - Rose Johnson, Gay Johnson, Etta Casey, Cora Longhorn and Pearl (who died in infancy).

He is survived by three sons - Richard Howard, John E. and Waitman C. - and one daughter - Frances Snodgrass.

He is also survived by six grandchildren, Denise, Kimberly Arnold, Richard Howard II, Ed, Waitman C. and Jennifer Willhelm; 12 great-grandchldren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

A member of the Church of Christ for more than 70 years, he served as an elder for many years for the Church of Christ at Peytona. He retired from ARMCO Steel at the end of a 46-year career as a coal miner. His community involvements included membership in the Madison Chapter of the Masonic Lodge and serving as mayor of Sylvester, as a Scoutmaster and as PTA president.

A newspaper account of his death said, “Howard's life has been one of service. He valued his God, his family, his country and his friends and community and endeavored each day to honor those values. His wisdom, generosity and love will be missed.”

His funeral service was conducted at the Church of Christ, Peytona, with ministers Louis Michael, Charlie McKinney and Richard Runyon officiating. Burail was at Boone Memorial Park, Madison, W. Va.
